Suppliers network to be expanded: Canon relocates Océ-Arizona printer production to Bavaria

Canon relocates its Océ-Arizona production from Arizona to Poing near Munich. 100 new jobs are to be created in Bavaria.

Canon is expanding its production facility in Poing near Munich in Germany to be closer to the important European market for large format printing. The manufacturer is therefore relocating the production facility for Océ Arizona printers in Arizona to Bavaria. The step is intended to both optimize efficiency and increase production volume. In addition, 100 new jobs are to be created in Bavaria alone and 50 more in research and development in Venlo, the Netherlands.

The large-format printers of the Océ Arizona series have already been produced in Germany for several years. By the end of 2018, every Océ Arizona printer from Canon will come from Germany. In addition to expanding its own team, the supplier network is also to be expanded. A further 70 suppliers from Europe and America will support Canon's global supply chain in providing its large format solutions. Canon expects production to increase by 30 percent, which would mean three Océ Arizona systems per day in the future. "By relocating the entire production to a centralised European location, we want to expand our strong market position, cultivate new ideas and drive innovation," explains Jeppe Frandsen, Executive Vice President at Canon Europe. This will ensure that the Océ Arizona series continues to play a central role in enabling customers to develop in a constantly changing market.
